Gourds
These gourds were grown in my garden. Decisions had to made as to what use each gourd would be put. Because the shells are quite thin they make lovely light weight boxes and are fairly easy to carve with a sturdy X-acto knife.

Straight Rainstick with Frogs

This rainstick has a beautiful Art Nouveau frog with water lily design on two sides. It is approximately 30 inches long and has many coats of varnish giving it depth. The sound is made by gourd seeds, metal shot pellets, and beads falling over bamboo sticks secured in a spiral pattern. Beautiful sound.
Four Inch Gourd Box

Lovely little box for small jewelry items or any other treasures. It was grown in my garden, cleaned then decorated by hand. It has several coats of varnish to preserve the surface. The interior is red.
Celtic Peacock Design Gourd Box

This gourd was grown in my garden; cleaned; designed and painted by me. It has a very high gloss finish which protects the design. It sparkles in the light. Approximately 7 inches in diameter. Green interior.

This gourd box is approximately 6 inches in diameter. It has a Celtic goddess design surrounded by hearts with cutout around the flames. Beautiful as a wish box (you write out your wishes and put them in this box)

Harvest Moon Rising

This piece is a pine needle basket 12 inches across and 5 inches tall. The gourd cover has been covered with a gold colored leafing that has spectacular bluish green bursts throughout. The string used is red wool with a yellow-gold slub.
